No “Wahala” for Malala!Posted: October 23, 2012
I bring flowers and a prayer for Malala.
The word, “Wahala” is a pidgin english word meaning troubles, and no doubt, I hope for a good recovery for the girl Malala, whose voice has echoed across the globe because of what she stood for. Nevertheless, post recovery I might assume that so long as she has committed herself to use knowledge as a tool, a weapon against enemies of education for young girls, there would always be troubles to confront. But I am reminded of the words of one Patricia Briggs – “Knowledge is a better weapon than a sword.” Or the words restated by some old quote, “the pen is mightier than the sword”. No doubt the weapon of instruction, is a greater force than the weapons of destruction, and the former will ultimately prevail over the latter.
